So How Does It Work

Hello and thanks for showing an interest in who we are, what we do and how Homesense.co.uk came about.

The story goes something like this (we have shortened it as much as possible)………….

Two friends were sat in the sun outside their local pub one afternoon just having a chat. One was in ‘the property game’ the other was trying to sell the family home. Both were disgruntled by the way their estate agents were treating them (or not treating them in this case) and decided there must be a better way of doing things.

“What are they doing for that £5k that we couldn’t do ourselves? How hard could it be?” one asked the other.

We started to make a list and below are some of the things we came up with:

1. Agent - They put pictures in their shop window.
   Homesense.co.uk - You are currently looking in our shop window.
2. Agent - They gather information of buyer budgets, preferred location(s), style of home, etc...
   Homesense.co.uk - We do that when people register.
   
3. Agent - They call or email people when a new property comes on the market.
   Homesense.co.uk - We email people who register and we only send details of exact matches not a 4 bed + 3 Bathroom when they are looking for a 3 bed + 2 bathroom and definitely not £50k over budget, this is asking for trouble in the chain when people get cold feet and also wastes time carrying out viewings.
   
4. Agent - They book appointments for you.
   Homesense.co.uk - We supply a private ‘in-house’ email and diary to everyone who registers so you can book viewings yourselves.
   
5. Agent - They give you feed back.
   Homesense.co.uk - We ask all buyers to leave private feedback that only you will see so that you know if they are interested or not.
   
6. Agent - They receive offers and pass them on to you.
   Homesense.co.uk - We supply an on-line ‘offer letter’ for people to complete and avoid any awkward negotiations. You just send a reply to their email with a ‘Yes Please’, ‘No Thanks’ or ‘Negotiate’ until you reach an agreement.
   
7. Agent - They chase solicitors through the process.
   Homesense.co.uk - Would you be prepared to make a few calls for the sake of thousands in savings.
   
8. Agent - They hand over the keys to the new owner
   Homesense.co.uk – You can hand them over or arrange with your solicitor to do this for you.

So How Does It Work

Problem solved!! From there it seemed we didn’t have a choice but to give the public a choice and so Homesense.co.uk was born.

Homesense.co.uk is aimed at the 80% of home buyers who start their search for property on the internet. The other 20% we can only assume are still trudging around looking in shop windows and waiting for the weekly paper to come through the letterbox. We provide a platform and opportunity for anyone and everyone to sell their home for just £1 per week instead of the traditional Estate Agent fee of between 1 - 2% of sale value.
